Services

All PHD ABIS programming is based on a neuro-cognitive behavioural empirical model and benefits from the clinical oversight of a Consulting Psychologist (Clinical Director) and consulting Neuro-Psychiatrist.

  • Residential Services

The Transitional Residence for Specialized Learning (TRSL) and PHD ABIS West - are designed for adults who have cognitive and/or behavioural needs that require a highly structured learning environment. Residents receive individualized client programming in Behaviour Management and Adaptive Life Skills Training.

PHD ABIS West is a provincial programme located in Oakville, Ontario. This residential programme has been developed to serve people with very complex needs, and admissions are subject to the approval of the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care.

  • Life Long Living

Life Long Living Service provides long-term supported living on three, fully staffed residential sites and in single unit apartments with support based on assessed need. The focus of the support in these settings is on maintaining independent living skills and social recreational engagement in the residence and the community.

  • Community Services

Comprehensive Community Service provides programming for our residential and community clients in both the Mississauga Halton LHIN and the Central West LHIN. This programming comprises two separate but closely integrated services:

    • ABI Day Services (psychosocial support for individuals and families, discrete modular groups in functional training, socialization, and therapeutic recreation) offered at our head office activity centre, our Orangeville site and out in the community. Clients can choose from a variety of activity offerings outlined in our PHD ABIS Day/Community Programme Brochure. Activities are based on surveys of client interests and rehabilitation goals, and include a variety of special events organized by staff and clients throughout the year. For more information on our Community Services, please request a copy of the PHD ABIS Day/Community Programme Brochure.
    • Case Management Services assist individuals who require support with community living skills and do not live in one of our residential sites. Services offered include assistance with financial and legal matters, housing, vocational and academic assessment and placement, health maintenance, transportation, recreation and life skills support. Case Managers link clients to other community agencies and organizations that can help them achieve greater levels of community engagement and independence. Case Managers also refer clients internally to other PHD ABIS services, such as ABI Day Services and Clinical and Residential Services. Case Management Services are offered in both our Mississauga head office and Orangeville locations.
